Hmm... missed this one earlier. But, sticking with the general rule of not being able to create a topic to promote your product (whether for profit or not) I would have closed this one a few days ago. However, since Jason has posted in here and it isn't closed, I'll assume you guys have something worked out and leave it open. To me this one is especially "bad" because there are paying advertisers who sell fuel rail covers and this could be taking their business.

I just wanted to post this for those who might be thinking I'm giving you special treatment by keeping this open. I'm not because I would have closed it had I seen it

Please keep in mind what you can and can't generally get away with when selling in bulk... What I usually don't mind is when a member asks "Where can I get some cool fuel rail covers?" and at that time if you reply with "I have some for sale!" then that's cool. However, one of the main benefits of a paying advertiser is being able to create topics to promote his product. Even though you aren't making a profit on these, we don't want to have to get into that with each person who claims they aren't making any money so it is "OK"

Anyway, I'll keep this open since the Boss didn't close it Just wanted to let the other members know why I didn't close it and that's because I initially missed it. DOH!

I do think these are very cool! You should jack the price up a bit and sell some on eBay and make yourself some money!

Is there much of a difference between yours and these http://impalaperformance.com/fuelrailcovers.html I want to get a set, paint them black and put red camaro letters on there. Dont even know if those are still available, but I want to get a set in the next couple of weeks. Maybe I'll just get yours to help out a fellow board member

Yep, grey area indeed.

The previous post is pretty close to reality. I do not have a business or plan on becoming a business.
That honestly is beside the point.

I orchestrated this strictly to help out some fellow board members....well that and I think it is cool to have something that I designed on other people's cars.
Yeah, I will agree they look cool.

Just to make sure that everything is out in the clear, I do make a small profit on these covers, but the intent was to cover my time and expenses as well as help out with the risk involved if no body bought any or all of them.
If you make a profit or not is not anyone's business but yours.

The problem that lies in this is that advertisers pay to make the same posts you do. Profit or no profit, business or no business, business plan or no business plan. It doesn't matter, the fact remains is that you are making a product and selling it, while promoting it here for free.

Now don't get me wrong, I really do understand your spot. I just hope that you understand mine as well.

Maybe we can work something out in the future, but until then, let's have this post be the only one for now. Fair enough? If an advertiser has exception to it, I will let you know privately.
