The new dash has a different vent system attached to the back, so to answer your question, yes the vents do line up but you need the vent system from a newer dash. They usually come with a dash if you get one from a junk yard. The traction control will work as well although you might need a new button, although the connectors should be the same.

I have the new console as well, but the old console will not fit unless you remove the tape bin on the front.

Also the air bag fits fine, the top plate is totally seperate and connected directly to dash, there is no physical connection other than the screws that hold the air bag module

The newer dash have different HVAC controls. They are about the same except for the size and the defrost button is located on it.

You will at the very least need a new faceplate for the controls. I picked up the new style so I could just swap it out easier. Also, mine was making a noise like air was escaping, and since the adjustability that controls the defrost/vent/feet etc... runs on vacuum, mine was leaking. When I replaced the new one I used some silicon grease and now it doesn't leak and operates faster when switching between the different modes. Also, the new controls has a shorter cable that controls the mixture of heat/air which is easier to deal with, although the old one will ultimately work with just changing the faceplate. Good luck. There is also a gentleman who has a install guide online, do a search for it and you should see it along with pics.
