Lowered camaro owners
I have a 2000 SS and it, to me is way to high off the ground. I am putting chrome 18 inch z06 wheels on it and wondered if I should lower first? The eibachs are only and inch and a half drop right? Are there any that are 2 or 3 inch? You can check her out at http://www.cardomain.com/id/project502 on page 2 or 3 don't remember!! Show me pics of your lowered camaro.
I lowered my car 1.5 inches and have 18" wheels and a decent size bump will make your wheel scrape on the wheel well. I think a 3inch drop will be WAY too much and 2 inch drop is pushing it. Pics are in both links iin my sig
I had my 18's on my previous z without any drop and it looked really 4x4ish. When I bought my current ride, I waited until I did the springs before putting on the 18's. Intrax springs are 2in drop, but I heard that Intrax has sagging issues. Eibach sportlines are 1.75 but are for looks and not for handling. If you want a decent drop with a quality spring, maybe you should look into getting a coil over set up from LG or Ground Control.
this should probably be in appearance...
you definately dont want to lower your car 3 inches
any more info on why sportlines are for appearance and not handling? i always liked the way they look but i dont want to sacrafice handling for looks...

My Z is lowered on Adjustable Coil-Overs. In most of my photos, it is lowered about 1.5 to 2 inches for daily drivnig.

Yeah those are actually image captures from video.
I need to get a digital camera.. I am accepting donations to my digital camera fund
lowered?
I'd jack mine up 2-3 inches if it wouldn't trash my handling. I hate dragging bottom everytime I'm not on a perfectly level road.
I'm guessing mine is probably alittle lower than stock, its got stock IROC suspension, but it has 201,000 miles on it so theres probably a inch or so sag... next spring I plan to replace the suspension... but it'll keep stock iroc parts.

Use coil-overs and get what ever spring you decide is best for the racing you will be doing. Or keep the springs you have now...
Lower the car at least an inch or so to get rid of the 4x4 look. An inch will be high enough to easily survive dips and bumps. Any lower and you will have to change your driving habits and map out which streets to avoid in your town. Any lower than 2 inches is asking for it, getting stuck that is. Most streets, ramps and dips can be taken at 2.5 in lowered but after that is purely for show car/race track use only.
JMHO,

Blackbirdta,
The spring rate on sportlines are softer than that of the prokits. For track/auto-x/hard street use, most will tell you to skip the sportlines. In a nut shell, they don't have enough spring rate to support the amount of drop.

i have sportlines now, and i am gonna dump them for the hotchkis 1" lowering springs... the sportlines are such a pita sometimes and bouncy as hell... i actually drag the temporary speedbumps as i enter the base i work on... it isnt exactly the best way to make friends with the gate gaurds carrying m16's...
