How far above the body molding do the SS emblems go on the fender of a 97SS?

i just checked and its 1 3/8" from the top of the side molding and 3 1/2" from the end of the fender (between the door and fender)

why were they off?

 

Hmm... one of the installers must have had too much to drink... off by 1/8"

LOL! I had thought I remembered answering this before so I did a search with a couple key words and found it!

I couldn't answer it now though because the SSs I have remaining (sold the one. WOOHOO!!!) all have had the badges removed and stuck back on. The yellow one for the repaint and the black one to change from black with red outlined emblems to black with silver outlined emblems. I know for a fact I just eyeballed it on the yellow one and on the black one, I can't be sure they are in the "stock" locations. The measurements from above were on my current yellow one when it was black so I'm pretty sure those emblems have been on there since new. Now, why they are 1/8" different yours and mine, I have no idea

 

well it was dark when i went out and measured...i could have looked at it wrong or perhaps the worker was under the influence

btw: speaking of black with silver outline i am probably going to order some from you in the somewhat near future
