Lambo Doors

no pictures...
does anyone think having lambo doors would look good? I have been working with autoloc on a good price and they finally met me in the middle so I might be putting them on (the motorized kind).

the kit can hold 250 pounds and comes with a lifetime guarantee (in 20 years if the motor goes bad, they replace it for free).

anyway I think it would look awesome on a 93-97 Camaro. like mine has 18 inch Z06 rims and t tops so with a lambo door system, it should really bring the outside to life.

do you think its a waste of money or will this mod be worth it?

You're gonna get a lot of negative feedback from some people, but I think they'd be cool as hell because I've never seen them on an f-body before. They'll weigh a TON though!

I assume the door comes out, then up?

Otherwise you'd hit the corner of the quarter panel i think.

yes the doors go out about 6-8 inches, then they go up.

and the doors won't weight anymore. the kit is designed so you won't need any (or very little) reinforcement.

plus not to many things are made specific for a camaro like they are for other vehicles so i want to try and get a little custom work done. i figure if anything, lambo doors are very sweet looking and i wanted them (motorized that is). hit a button on my alarm and the driver side door opens on its own, hit it again and the passenger side, then hit the lock button and both doors come down and lock. oh well, i guess only one way to tell.

Run with it!!! I'm in the process of getting mine done too. Yea I had to haggle about the price too. I finally got a price thats OK so I'll be getting them as soon as the kit is made. BTW it's for my 2000 Camaro, I would get them for my 86 too but the weight issue bothers me. I really would'nt give a flip about opinions on this mod cause think about it. How many 4th Gen camaros do you see with them?
How much is Autoloc charging you for the motorized doors? I was planning on the regular "out and up" set-up, but would love to get the motorized, preferably with a remote lol!!!

autoloc has given me a few prices

the motorized kit comes with all the brackets needed. the motor has a lifetime guarantee so if it ever goes bad for ANY REASON, they will replace it for FREE!!! The rep at autoloc also said this kit was designed for minimal body work. He said if you have little to experienced body work knowledge, you could put this kit on in your home garage. I have a body guy who is putting mine on (if I get it). Now here are the prices from autoloc

1 motorized kit=2000
3 motorized kits=1800 each

1 non-motorized kit=1700
3 non-motorized kits=1500 each

I know that hurts the wallet a little and I also know you could spend the $$$ on something else. But since no one that I have ever seen with an Fbody has ever done this, I can say its the best $$$ I can spend for a custom look.

I also have an account with them so if you want one, let me know. I'm not trying to push these to make a profit, I'm just trying to get more of you to buy a kit so I can get a group purchase price as well. I guess pictures will be available later this year (if this happens!)

Sounds cool as hell. Our doors are so darn long...it's hard not to hit them on something when getting in and out. Doors like this would kick ****!

I was thinking it would be only for looks, but that is a great point. I have seen this mentioned before on this board, but as far as I know no one has done it. Whichever one of you guys gets this done first, post some pics!

Does a kit come with motors for both doors, or just one? If it's for both, I just might start saving up. But wouldn't you have to reroute the wires and stuff, because it seems like the door would kink them or something. Let me know more about this idea, unless that is already what you have learned. Good luck

you won't have to reroute the wires at all. you will have to cut them and add more wire to it since the door goes up further then it goes out. that isn't to hard, very simple.

also the kit does come with 2 motors (1 door=1 motor). it can be wired to your unlock/lock door locks very easily to. which is what i just found out. you won't need to wire it into your alarm. just wire to the lock/unlock buttons you already have (if you have them). it will unlock and the "kit" will then open the doors and lift them up. pretty cool

but i'll take pictures once i do it....the earliest will be november/december time. (that is when i can take a loan out)...hope no one beats me to this project

Awesome, I will go in on a kit with you around then, for the motorized one most likely. I still need to save up quite a bit though. What exactly do you have to modify on the body? Does the door need more room to be able to lift up or what? Thanks
