The only 4th gen purple I liked was the Purple Peal Metallic. I am slightly biased though as that's what my car was!

If you want to buy a car to paint a different color, at least get a black one....black engine bay and door pilars don't look bad when the outer color is blue or orange or whatever. I think it looks so incrediably stupid when a car is two totally different colors when the hood or doors are open...just my $.02

Why the HPD didn't order them in that color from GM in the first place is unusual to me. I believe you had to order a minimum of 12 cars to have them a special color on Fleet sales. I don't remember... 10 or 12...

Because it cost to much to have GM paint them. Houston PD got it done for less locally.

Its not uncommon for LEAs to receive specialized units from the dealerships in different colors.. Availiablity on hand, costs, and other factors may apply...

orange with purple under the hood. thats um....

i wonder why the police department's didn't get white or black since they were going to repaint them anyway

Sorry, don't remember. I just remembered that there was a news story on this, on one of the local chanels, where they talked about Houstons "special paint" color. I thought they said it was being done "in house", and still costing to much, so that was why they were going to plain white.
