The area the wipers wipe is always clean but the area outside that I can never get clean. How do you guys get your windshield crystal clear?

Use newspaper instead of paper towels or cloth rags. There's more "tooth" with newsprint, and it really does a good job.

Which product do you use to clean the glass or does it not matter much?

I normally use Invisible Glass. That said, newsprint works wonderfully when you are simply drying a wet car after washing. All water spots are removed with a vigorous rubbing. I grab a section of the paper and use 1 sheet at a time (crushing it into a sort of ball). Change sheets as you move around the car.

I've had good luck with Invisble Glass. Although lately I had to break in a NanaSkin Mitt and it suggests breaking in on Window Glass - A big Difference - Clay Bar on Glass....

They offer a Speed Prep Sponge for quite a bit cheaper that would probably work out well for glass!

Oh and I use Optimum No Rinse (Clay Lubricant Mixture) as the lube/cleanser
