Are you guys going to independant bodyshops, or dealerships? I know there is a big price difference between the two.

I was quoted $800. That was because they would only guarrantee the color match if they blended in the nose and fenders as well.

i thought 350 was a good price, be careful with low prices on painting, you get what you pay for in auto body work

Yea 200 sounds kinda low...it probably won't match completely if they only paint the hood..I was quoted 400 to have the hood and bumper painted and blend it in with the fenders and doors....which seemed like a good price to me

No offense guys but some of those shops sound like a rip because..
If the shops cant match the hood to your fenders without painting. How in the hell can they match the fenders to your doors without repainting them? And what makes them stop there? Doors back panels it just goes on.

Catch what im saying?

Ive had 3 ss-hoods. And only once did i have the front facsia painted with it(had to).

Never had a single problem with them matching.

and i agree, they did my first hood like that just painting the hood and it came out great, but they still charged me 350 bucks to do it, 200 seems low but if he gets a good job for that price so be it

I agree $200 may be a little low. But the guy does alot of work for us. He paints the drag boats my dad and his friends play around with.

Its just too bad i need him again because of these damn gravel trucks around here

Well, $200 isn't bad. Are they painting under it as well?

Mystic teal can be a funny color. I have one. 95 Camaro.

He shouldn't have to blend w/ the fenders unless your fenders are faded dramatically. I also had the hood on my Z done, and it was fine, that was Artic White.

If it is someone you have always dealt with, and you trust, that is a good price.

My bodywork guy is my hook up. Been going there since 97. An example: He is going to wet sand and buff my black TA for around $150

To most people that sounds nuts, but the business I give him, justifies that price...

The guy painting my hood is a my dad's good friend. That's why he is only charging me $200. He is cutting us a deal. I also agree that you get what you pay for, but $800 for a hood is insane.
