I used an actual removal tool, then just removed all that sticky stuff with some 3M adhesive remover. I'm pretty sure that it would have come off with just a heat gun though. Once you get up one side...you just pull slowly all the way down heating as you go. Piece of cake.

Looks damn clean without that crap on the sides... There is no paint work involved with this? Just heat and peel. SLOWLY?

Thanks Guys... My lil weekend project...

Yup...No paint involved. Now...we're talking relatively new paint here...I mean.....if you have an older car...there may be some fade or something...Just a little something to consider beforehand.

Damn.
That's something I hadn't considered.
My ride's a 97 and has been garage stored for nearly all of it's existence.
Sure would suck to get the molding off and see a huge difference........

I just pulled the molding off of my '95 about a month ago and there isn't any difference (that I can see) in the color that was under it.

It might be just fine then, since it's been garage kept so much. I would't sweat it. The difference would probably be minimal...especially on a Red...now if you had Black....

Where did you get a tool for that? I've heard of people using fishing line and 'flossing' it off...

the "tool" i used was called a molding removal tool. I have a neighbor who's a body man, and that's what he called it, and it was his tool. So I'm just going on what he told me. You basically just ran it down the line behind the bolding and it stripped it right off. No heat required.

I just had mine removed. I like it a lot. It really cleans it up. Look in after crash pictures album. The pictures were taken by a digital camera. So some pictures really accent that there's no molding.

I removed mine not too long ago also. I thought about the paint fade since I have a black car. But I couldn't tell much of a differnce between before and after.

It does look much much cleaner now.
