there was a member on this board who posted an mpg of his Z shooting flames at night. long tubes, no cats, Hooker cat back. do a search

then another guy said to rig a switch to the A.I.R. pump to increase the flame. very cool. i'm considering it for those idiots who stop 2"-3" from my rear bumper in traffic.

As Stacey indicated on TrucksTV, it is not for catalytic converters. So don't bother attempting it if you have one.

Cars can shoot flames out without the use of a flamethrower kit. But on a typical street car its unlikely.

Mine does it, but the following conditions are met...
A) My exhaust is about 36 inches long
B) I'm running overlapping intake and exhaust valves (aka) a race motor.

Also I would not feel very safe adding fuel to a Nitrous purge valve in my exhaust system to create flames........I mean holy crap are you insane? Your asking to get blown up.

And 95% of your posts are helpful huh Stik?

Anyways, does anyone know of any f-bodies shooting flames? No one i know personally ever did it or plans on it.

Mine does. And after I replace the exhaust to come all the way to the rear, I plan on keeping flame throwers.

I've also seen another '79 Z28 that ran tractor pipes out of the hood, you could watch each individual cylinder fire.
1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. Freakin' Awesome!!!

Its more popular on us peeps with older cars, primarily because of the lack of catalytic converters.

I hope those rolling eyes arent for me!!!
nitrous is a NON FLAMABLE gas. Only when mixed with a combustible such as Gas does it become ignitable. And its not even the nitrous thats being ignitied directly, its the fuel being ignited then buring the extra Oxygen molecules in the N2O

N2O = 2 oxygen molecules per every nitrogen molecule, this is the simple reason you have to add more FUEL to the car when running nitrous. If nitrous were flamable on its own you wouldnt need more fuel

No..the rolling eyes were directed at the person suggesting only purging the Nitrous lines to the exhaust.

i beleive the reason you have to add more gas when you run N20 is to cool the burn in the combustion chamber. Also the higher the octane means it burns cooler. thats why if fuel pressure is to low or to low octane is used EGT temps go up because the burn in the combustion chamber is to hot.
thats what I read in MM&FF

My "flamethrowing" exhaust consists of: Longtube headers, off-road y-pipe, and no muffler. Oh yea, I'm running a little rich, also.

n20 is not flamable. that sounds like a statement a 16 y/o with a riced civic would say at cruise in show.

When I put in the Y pipe and off road pipe along with the SLP LM, my car which is an LT1 will throw a decent sized ball of flame out of each tail pipe. The car has to get high in the RPM's and then when I switch gears it's when it happens. And it "pops" really loud when it does, like a backfire. It only does it when the car is cold. Once it has been driven for 15 or 20 minutes it won't do it any more, or at least as much. Again, I have done nothing to the computer and only what is in the sig. People have pulled up next to me and said that it's cool. I was thinking of fixing it, but I rather run rich and spend a little more in gas and just have the effect.
