well I dont think my car is boring, I like to think of it as clean and mean... I like racing stripes, big rims, custom body panels, hoods spoilers and such... and most any custom stuff people do with thier interior... but I dont dig the underbody neons... I think they are kinda out of place on a fbody, and I dont mind other people doing it but I would never do it to mine. And dont think Im an old fart that cant appreciate it because Im only 22... See, what Im moding right now on my car is the front end... Im putting an LS1 front end on w/ a SS hood and spoiler and chrome rims off an 99 Z28 and some diamond clear turn signal lights... Later Im getting some Xenon ground f/x and such and Ill be done with my car... except for maybe a billet grill or something and a t-top coversion... anyways, thats the extent to my modding, and although you might think of it as boring, I think its pretty sweet... anyways, back to the subject... Im not gonna lie, I do think that neons are kinda rice on an fbody or any american car really... they kinda fit in on those exagerated body kits the euro cars have but I think it really takes away from the attitude of an fbody.. but I wont disrespect you if thats what you like, as everyone has their own opinion so rock on

 

I meant boring as in leaving it stock,I also love the stripes but with predator hood Im gettin I have a better idea.

Have you ever seen the RK Sport Ground effects kit for the 93-97 camaro ?? It looks soooo sweeet, once you see it you may not want to upgrade to the LS1 front end. IMO it looks better....lol
But also IMO So do NEONS under the car!!!! hahahhha

That is what makes it fun, Hell if everyone liked the same thing thenall our cars would look the same, just liek they do off the showroom floor. THAT is why we MOD them...TO BE DIFFERENT from the boring narrow minded people. If we didnt have narrow minded people like AW/WhiteZ28(who posted If we did stuff to our cars to make everyone else like them we wouldn't be driving camaro's we would all have honda's) who think F-body owners have to be as boring as him. Then our cars wouldnt be unique now would they??? You think owning a 300HP v8 gives you the right to feel superior to so called " Ricers" ....well maybe it did 5 years ago, but times are changing. Well this thread was just too good to miss!

Personally, I don't like all of the big flashy stuff that some of you young fella's (ps. I'm only 30 myself LoL) put on YOUR cars. But it's YOUR car. Chances are if you looked at my plain old black Z, then you would say "hey old man....get with the times!". And that's fine by me. It's MY car. And I have to admit that I have seen pics of some of your cars and they are kick a$$ rides. I want to upgrade my exhaust and rims. So will I be a rice boy? That's a matter of opinion and to each their own.

To me, a ricer is someone who is making their car up to be something it ain't. If you've got your car done up to be something it's not (eg. a NOS sticker when she got no NOS), then that's rice... Example: If someone's gotta Civic modded out with the big a$$ wing, body kit, neons, subs, and all the bling-bling you can stuff into it and they claim it can toast my V8, then it better do the job. And if it does, then my hats off to ya! (and I'll be selling the Z - LoL!!!)

Everything you will every do to a car is gonna be criticized. SOMEONE AIN'T GONNA LIKE IT! And to finish my rant....
If at the end of the day YOU can look at the car that YOU have in YOUR driveway and be proud of it, then that's all that matters.

BTW. that's just my $0.02 worth....

 

Thats another thing, I spend alot of time admiering my car when Im outside having a smoke or something I cant help myself!
thats how you know you really like your car! When your neighbors come outside and see you doing this to your car and saying, IM NOT WORTHY, IM NOT WORTHY! heheh

 

I'm w/ Rez. The majority of my mods are subtle. I mod for me, not to impress others.
For example, I don't often get compliments on my clear corners w/ white DRLs and green running lights, or on my Carbon Fiber Nose emblem, or on my rear Camaro inserts, or on my Chrome rear bowtie. Why? because most people don't even notice the difference.
But I do, and so does Rez and others. I appreciate the subtle differences between my car and some guy's 40 year old wife.
I do also have interior neons, painted interior, exterior UB kit, and other more noticeable stuff, but that's mostly for me too.
I don't get compliments on my UB kit while i'm driving 70 down the highway, so i'm not doing it so people will tell me "sweet ride", but it makes my car different, which makes me happy.

People can certainly do whatever they want with their own cars.

That being said, I think the neon stuff is tacky. A car should look purposeful, not like a bordello, IMHO. Fake hood scoops, fake air ducts, huge spoilers, and ones that are angled incorrectly so they won't spoil, neon, stickers, bolt on aero parts that are different colors, etc.--rice. On show cars, some exceptions are duly given, but on the street, an F-body should look like it means business, not like a floating billboard, disneyland or a bordello--again, IMHO.

 

How can you say you mod for yourself ? I mean I mod my car for myself too but I also consider how nice it will look to OTHER people as well. Example: I bought a TRans-AM because I like the speed and power. But If I didnt want to Show it off I would NEVER race anyone. because from what your saying its for yourself??? Dude it just doesnt make sense.

When you go shopping for clothes you buy what you think looks best on you IF OTHERS WERE LOOKING AT YOU. IF that were not true you would be walking around in Underwear all day. Dont be ignorant and say you only do it for yourself. thats a load of

 

Just thought i would throw in my .02. The hole idea of calling anyone with a F-body a ricer is ridiculous. For one even those who have the 3.4 and 3.8 still have twice the engine size of most ricers, not to mention those of us with LT1's and LS1's. Not to mention our engines drive the right wheels. We all here love to blow the doors off of any ricer that comes along, so whats the point in calling a fellow F-body owner a ricer when you basically have the same car. To each their own! I personally don't have neons but do like them, so when someone other then me starts paying for my car's mods then maybe you people should keep your opinions to yourself, and let everyone do their own thing.

hey quit hating cause my mom's daewoo leganza runs 17's flat bitch. and hey over 35 mph that 6 foot wing is functional biotch. and the ground effect keep it from floating off the ground for more downforce. The neons help me watch for snakes under my car at night(you can never be too cautious for those king snakes they can take off a leg!!!! and my kick *** system keeps the bitches nice and wet. my friend with the purple gold orange yellow green and white civic has a turbo,supercharger and nitrous run him he runs 15's flat bitch!!!!!!!!!!1
