Hmm, didn't see that last post. The impression I got from his initial post (and apparently the impression everyone else got) was that he was looking to dress up the stock scoops.

Yeah I know, that's what I got from the original post, too.

Re: Hood Vents

here is what i did, i used a sharp knife and cut open the piece, and bought some mesh and attached it to the part, it may not be fully functuonal but it takes air into the engine compartment for cooling purposes maybe? will post pics tomorrow

Re: Hood Vents

I've made some vinyl overlays for them. Came out nice. Used black reflective vinyl in the same size as the black plastic piece then I stick on this in a different color either Z28, a bowtie, CAMARO, or a custom name. Doesn't look too bad and the reflective catches attention at night

This is not a good example but shows you want I'm talking about

I was supposed to get some pics of them installed on a car but never did. Will have stick a set on my car I guess to get some pics. I think they'll look a bit better installed and would be "interesting" looking at night too.

Lightbulb Re: Hood Vents

What I found out from a close source, they were supposed to be functional but the placement made them actually keep heat in on the cars engine. NOT extract it. Thats why they were kept shut. Also it would force air into the top back part of the engine to make it harder for the air to go into the radiator creating a pressure area and possibly overheating the engine..if I remeber right.

Re: Hood Vents

Good idea, just maybe not the best results (overheating and air problems, if it's true)

Re: Hood Vents

I have the black back wall of my vents cut out. When I drive down the road now I can stick my hand out by my mirror and feel the heat streaming out of the engine compartment.

Re: Hood Vents

I say..you dont know what your talking about. Try taking your vent all the way out with the four nuts under the hood then drive it around for a while and try it. It will do the same thing. The amount of hot air that comes out the vent hole is way greater then the amount that comes out of me! You would think the air would only go in and not come out but it does!!

Re: Hood Vents

you talking about the vents on the hood? or the blacj shrowd on the back??

Sure heat comes out of the vent holes if you open them up..but what your doing is creating an almost cowl hood induction effect in that area of the hood. thats why it is blocked off..it reduces the effect of the radiators cooling..you have a high pressure area right above the engine and that fills the engine compartment. that in effect reduces the amount of air that comes in the radiator.
