Question Hella FF75 help

I purchased the hella FF75 lights but am going to be changing the bulbs on the high beams side. My question is how do you chnage the bulbs in these? Also I was wondering if anyone has pics of these mounted. Also how do you wire these up to the stock wiring. I don't want to use the green switch that they included. Any help would be appreciated.

Talking took me a while to figure out also...

First you have to remove the screws holding the black plastic cover to the glass (1 screw on each side of the housing). Then seperate the two pieces and unhook the wires from the back of the bulb. Then remove the screw and wire holding the bulb in place...now pull the bulb out.

As for wiring them...check out 94BlackBowtie's thread. Also, I've asked tons of questions about wiring, bulbs, etc. so you could do a search for my username to find more info.

Post pics when you're done

Was wondering why I couldn't split the stock wiring and just wire that up to the lights vs running everything through the relay.

If you are gonna run the 55w bulbs, then you can just do that. If you ar upgrading to 100w though, the stock wiring cant take that amount of wattage, so you need the relay.

Can anyone draw up a pic to show what wires go where then. (for low and high) There are three wires for the stock lights - ground, power, what is the third??? The low beams I am going to run at 55w but the highs will run at 100w. Oh I looked at my lights to open it up and there are no screws to remove the glass from the housing. There are some hole but no screws inside that I can see.

The stock lights only have two wires, power and ground. The actual glass of the housing isnt going to come off...when you take the mounting bracket off with the two screws pull on lip that the glass makes and the housing should come right out. As for a wiring diagram, heres a link for you...http://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/te...s/schematc.jpg

OK lights only have two wires, duh - ok. On the pic that you posted though you have 3 wires for the lows. (blue, red, and black) Why 3 wires and how are they hooked up since there are only 2 connections on these lights...?

White30th, any reply to my last post???

I am going to wire the lows to the factory wiring and will be using new wire for the high beams. I found some pics of this install and it looked like they had used some kinda block between the light and the plastic light housing that it is mounted to. Also there is some kinda bracket but only on the low beams.. what for.. more bracing.?? I can't find the page with the car showing what I am talking about, will post as soon as I find it...

btw: it is a grean car

The 3rd screw is inside the housing. You'll have to pull the plastic and the glass apart, then you'll find the 3rd screw inside holding the bulb in place.

I didnt even notice that the drawing had 3 wire until you said something. If you are only gonna run 100w in the highs and not the lows, then ignore the 3rd wire. I think the reason the drawing has 3 wires is because that was intended for 3rd gens, so it must be different. As for the bracing, I have no idea what you are talking about, but if you can find the page post it and I will try to help. Basically all you have to do to run one set of 100w bulbs is to use just one of the relays that came with the lights. If you need help with that then let me know, and Ill walk you through it.

O, now i see what you are talking about. Looks to me like he made those himself to act as a spacer, because if you use the bolts that the lights come with, they will be a little too long for the space given. I would just take one of the bolt/nut combo to ace, and find a shorter bolt with the same thread size and use that, but if you want to make a spacer you can do that too.

So you just drill a hole threw the plastic and bolt it up.... the plastic is secure enough???

Yep, takes all of 10 minutes. Just make sure you dont drill to close to the edge, or the plastic will break when you torque down on the bolt. Dont ask how I know
