H.I.D. on a LT1 T/A

I read alot about guys going the HID conversion using the stock housings and all on the LT1 Camaros but what about the LT1 T/A's. Did a search and didn't see anything. Doesn't seem to me like it would be a huge difference except you might need slack in the wire since the lights go up and down.

Anybody out there go these?

Re: H.I.D. on a LT1 T/A

I just bought a 94 TA. The previous owner had done the HID thing, but removed it because the wires kept getting caught in the lights when they were shutting.

He switched to silverstars, but said he liked the lighting of the HID better, but was sick of the wires getting caught. He is selling it pretty cheap on LS1.com - just look for username 94TransAmGT.

Are you sure that they were HID's because i just looked at the post and he says that they were only $80 new. A H.I.D. Kit new cost a couple hundred.

There has been talk, but no one has ever done it. I would pay big bucks if it was available.

Re: H.I.D. on a LT1 T/A

nobody is ever going do it though cause there are so many more ls1's out there then lt1's. Some guy made a set for the ls1 a while back but they were very expensive and didn't really fly with most people. Since then i haven't seen them for anything but C5's. Anyway if i wanted some i would want HID's. The ones for the ls1's were just usually fog/driving lights you can buy at most places.

Re: H.I.D. on a LT1 T/A

My friend owns a shop, and the funny thing is we were talking about making a fixed H.I.D projection headlights for my bird. The H.I.D kits cost around $350, then the cost of materials and fabrication and we were looking at cost's around $900. I may do this over the summer before getting the car painted. We might do 2 projectors on each side. If you ever seen the RX7's headlight conversions it might be somewhat close to it but simple at the same time.

I would love to try to use some of the new Vette headlights on our cars, them things are bright as heck, and really light up the road! But I dont think I will invest that much into this project, I think the Piaa's will be fine for now!

how close are they in size to the popups?
I think I'll go take measurements tommorow
