got an alarm anyone? ??????? need one
I am lookin in to ordering an alarm for my bird and i was wondering if anyone could gimme some tips on them.. will i need a VATS disabler or something to bypass it? which alarms would you guys recommend? what are the best, most affordable, easily installable alarms?
fwiw, i've got a Clifford Intelliguard 800IQ (now 8000) on my 'bird. It offers dual zone motion sensors that can be set/adjusted on the fly. I currently have it set so that it begins to chirp if something moves within 4' of the car. I had it installed back in '97 at a radio install shop and altogether it ran me $580.

I put an Ungo MS2007 Alarm/remote start in my Z. I love it, it has an LCD pager remote, that tells me when the alarm goes off, and I can check the status of the car/alarm, etc. I can even set the car to start at a specific time of the day, and I don't even have to push a button when the time comes.
In my opinion, this would be the one to get.
I bought it on eBay for $215, and it came with a proximity sensor which senses when anything moves around it. I have it adjusted to beep when anybody is within about a foot, and to go all out alarm if somebody reaches into the cockpit, such as when I leave the tops off.
I checked around, and to buy it installed, it would cost $550. I installed it for like $50, and 20 of that is for the VATS Passkey II bypass module thing, with another 20 for a window roll-up module, which rolls up the window automatically everytime I arm it.
Yes, you do need a PassKey bypass module thing, but only if you have a remote starter. The alarm will do just fine without a bypass module, but the car won't run for more than 2 seconds without it. Although, you can make your own bypass module thing. Check out the Alarm install page on Brent94Zs homepage.
