Front fender gap
Front fender gap
I've got a gap in my front fenders on my 2000 Camaro SS.
The fenders stick out about 1/2" on the drivers side and about 1 1/2 "'s on the passenger side. I talked to another local Fbod guy and he said this was caused by someone jacking the car up incorrectly, well I've never lifted my car off the ground. How can I fix this? they stick out away from the body, it appears that the mounts for the bottom connector have been bent/pushed differntly whats the easiest way to fix this?

Re: Front fender gap
I just fixed mine. I put her on the ramps and took a pair of Vise-grips and grabbed the fender-lip and the mounting tab and bent them inward till the fender aligned with the door.
It's a piece of cake

Re: Front fender gap
I bet you a $1 somebody hit your car in the front end or you hit something going 5 mph or less.
Our silver Z28 has the same problem from #1 a parking wreck on behalf of my sister (right side of front end), #2 a van merging into my sister's lane while she was in their blind spot at a red light (left side of front end), and #3 someone vandalizing the car and having to have the right front quarter panel replaced (they hit it with an axe and it cracked in half).
Anyway, any of those three things will throw the alignment off. I'm not a professional, but my dad has worked on cars over 30 years and told me what to do. What you need to do is pop the hood, get a friend to hold the front quarter panels as you loosen the bolts that hold it on and adjust them to fit one at a time. Don't mess with the hood, it is very unlikely that your hood is out of alignment. Shut the hood slowly so you can make sure the gap is still large enough that the hood will close without breaking the quarter panels.
However, our silver Z28 has also been improperly jacked as well. You can tell if it has because the way the quarter panels hook on at the bottom will not be straight up and down, it will be bent. Even if your car WASN'T hit in the front end, and only improperly jacked, you will likely need to adjust the quarter panels. My sister currently has the car or else I'd post some pics of what I am talking about.

Re: Front fender gap
If you have one there, you likely have a gap at top and just haven't noticed it yet. (We didn't notice we had a gap up top for a month or two.) I'll take pics as soon as I finish eating.
Re: Front fender gap
Here, I made all of the pics into 1 pic and wrote stuff on it. See if you have the problem at the rear view mirrors. The quarter panels SHOULD line up perfectly straight with the mirrors.

yea, the panels look like they sit perfectly at the top. Car, has never been hit, there are no scratches or cracks, the mounting bracket where they connect to the body at the bottom is bent and its very obvious when I look at it that someone improperly jacked the car, there are no scrapes only a bent area on the part. I just have to re-align the bottom

, to fix our gaps is a pretty involved process.
