Dyed interior panels as opposed to painted

I'm all for customation, however I'm not a big fan of the painted panels because at times they look like tool coating if it isn't done perfectly.

Who has done dye, so you can keep the dash texture? And do you have pics?

To dye plastic u have to put it in boiling water so unless you have
a bathtub with a fire under it, I don't think you can do it.

thats what i thought, you would need huge heated tanks, and even then i wondered if the cheap molded plastic panels wouldnt distort under that heat. I think this why they usually come in the stock color or are paint to match, (replacements usually are blueish grey or grey)

I would have to say paint it. I did my friends mustang he had tan interior and we painted it all black look pretty good and he still has the texture you just have to "ruff up" the plastic for the paint
to stick make sure you use primer and a really good clear coat

uhh you guys do know they make spray on dye for car interiors.... its not paint, it actually penetrates the parts and changes the pigmentation. thats what i thought you were talking about when i saw the title. no need to boil the parts... lmao

I had a friend who dyed lacrosse stick heads, and used a big pan, should be big enough for most of the interior parts, but I'm not a big fan of interior color change, keep it simple, keep it sleek

VHT also makes a vinyl, carpet, and plastic dye. One dude used it on his seats in red and it looked awesome.
