Door Lock & Handle Removal
Its actually pretty easy to do. the first thing you have to do is to remove the door panel to access the inside of the door.
Once you have the door panel off you can look at the back of the handle and lock and you will see two connecting rods that link them to the lock solinoid and the door release.

The ends of the rods are fastened to the handle and lock by little plastic bushings.

Once you get the rods separated from the bushings you can just push them aside to get to the bolts on the handle.
The handle itself has two bolts on the inside of the door.

The lock has a little metal retaining clip that just slides onto the back of it. Just slide it off and the cylinder will come right out.

Be careful with the plastic bushings that hold those rods in place. After they reach the age that they've gotten to in our cars they get pretty brittle. I had to replace them on my mom's car when her door handle stopped opening the door.
Yeah, the plastic sucks. On our Z28, both door handles rattle because the bushings broke on the external side and the little tiny rod that goes in them fell out
Door handles still work, but they rattle back and forth if you jiggle them.

Outstanding! Thanks for all your help! Thanks to everyone that responded
are you saying you can fix the above mentioned jiggly handle with new bearings/pins? my drivers side door handle is making that noise and im looking online at new handles (might as well do both if im gonna do one because im sure the other one will go sooner or later although i rarely use that handle)
