Door damage repair?

So I took the door panel off and saw why my window wouldn't roll up fully.
The door is getting ripped where the regulator holds to it. There are 2 small screws and a hook that are tearing down the door when I roll the window up. How much should it cost to get that repaired on the driver door? I have manual windows if there could be a cost difference. And how could I repair it myself? I tryed using fiberglass but it broke that took.

The best fix is to make a steel patch, glue and rivet them to the door where the "tearing" is. This will spread the loading over a greater area.

I have the same problem but to a lesser extent. Happened after the dealer replaced the drivers side motor and left the regulator fasteners untorqued. This allowed some small movement of the regulator which tore up the SMC.
I believe this is fairly common.
