Diy Paint Whole Car
Diy Paint Whole Car
ok, so most people are going to call me crazy, just like my dad did.
but i have a LOT of patience and i ENJOY and do well with things involving a process.
so, my dad is getting me a hvlp paint gun for free... i wanted to paint my ground effects, but then decided that i am just going to lower the car and leave them off until i got the whole car painted.... but WHO has the money for THAT?
so i figured, why don't i do it myself... i know i know, it's suicide if you don't have experience. but i really think i could....
basically i am just asking for tips/ information
my car is green and i want to change it to yellow or orange.
so, any information would be awesome... (yes i already did a search)
thanks guys! -Joe

Re: Diy Paint Whole Car
your definitly going to need to use some of that patience that you have on your first paint job. I would suggest looking up some step by step processes online somewhere and do all your homework before you even begin. Make sure you understand what everything your gonna try and do is actually doing.
If you have any specific questions, I may be able to assist you, I have been down this road before and have painted many cars, including the last few being camaro's. If you have AOL instant messanger IM me sometime, ill be glad to assist you.

Re: Diy Paint Whole Car
I just put a coat of paint on my car and it looks great. No experience with spray guns either. I didn't even sand between any coats and from 3 feet away it looks absolutely flawless. Up close there is some orange peel, but some wet sanding will help a bit. Changing color is a different story. Door jams, engine bay, and hatch? Thats going to SUCK.

lol look at it in a few months flawless haha
sorry but its not that eazy
as for the origanal question i ahve allot of experience painting and the 2 things i reccomend since u ahve patience before u do it.. buy a painters guide book a good one not a 10 page thing...then when u think u understand read it again..then buy a beater or use an old hood or somthing atleast and practice a few times
paint jobs are not a few grand for nothing they do take more than time so make sure u have the skill to do it before u just try.
Good Luck let us know how it goes

it is not to bad just take your time and read all you can. make sure you use decent products and take your time follow all steps. and you need a good high cfm compressor with hvlp guns.
