Post A dimple/dent in fender

About 6 months ago I noticed a dimple/dent on the passenger side about 6" above the wheel well and fairly close to the antenna. I was pissed that someone had hit the car and left.
Since then I have seen 5 or 6 cars with the same problem.
Is this a TA/Firebird problem?
If so how can it be prevented once I have the body work done?

Thanks
Frank

my z28 has the same problem, both fenders over the rear wheel have a few "dimple dents" in them. the guy i bought the car off of was telling me that the reason you usually only see dents on those rear fenders is because its the only part of the body that is actually metal. the rest of the body is not metal so it doesn't dent like the rear fenders. he told me the way he found that out was by one day out of curiosity in trying to find why that was the only part of the car that got dents, he took a magnet and placed it on various parts of the car and discovered that the only part of the body that it would stick to were the rear quarter panels. how to prevent that: just try and park at the end of parking lots were there aren't very many people, other than that i don't know what you can do.

OK NOW I'm curiuos. I have a sorta 1/4 moon shaped dent near the antenna that has no paint damage, just the dent. Maybe it is a flex point? Because who has car doors that high and that far back?

F-bodys seem prone to birthing marks above the wheel wells. The Camaro convertible that I had did not have any, but my Firebird does.

Question

Yup, my car used to have a dimple/dent on the right side rear fender just a few inches below the antenna. I took it to a shop and they charged me $100 (USD) and it looks okay now.
Bad news is last week I noticed another dent, this time on the driver's side rear fender, but this one looks like the ones you get from being hit by a pick-up truck's door or something that high ... damn !!
