How much of a gap is there between the 93-97 camaro dash and a 98+ console? Is the piece from the 93-97 console with the lighter in it too big or too small to fit this gap?

 

The piece from the old console would be too big...but it's made onto the old one as well, so...

The gap is about this big.

 

I personally like the old console because the shifter plate comes up and you don't have to take the whole console out when you have to do work.
the one thing i like about the new one is the console lid.... the old ones are a pain in the buttocks.

 

I am planning on doing that swap. My console is falling apart as we speak so I opted for the 97-02 console. I plan on putting a cd changer or a dvd player where the gap is. I don't mean to jack your thread but does anybody know where I can get a 97-02 console in great shape for an m6? Thanks
