I was installing it myself and cracked off a 2"x1" peice of the corner while trying to lift it onto the hinges!!!! I am so pissed , I bought it an hour before .... and it is painted. How should I go about repairing this?! Do I have to lay new fiberglass sheet or is there a good glue I can use.....it is a clean break so I think if I glue it from the back....I can "touch up paint" the crack in the front and it will be virtually invisible. PLEASE HELP !!! ---

 

can you take some pictures and post them, its better to show the amount of damage than to try and explain it

Lesson of the day: dont try to install your new hood by your self, you may chip a piece off and be pissed, in the same boat as this guy.

 

Here is the only pic I have right now. I thought I could trust HARWOOD. It was painted too, so I thought it would be stronger. SORRY GUYS ITS ON MY SYCLONE , so the camaro hoods may not be so fragile ( I have a 35 yr old one on my 67rs and a 3 yr old one on my 96 and they were tougher ). I circled the peice that is missing. Tonight I will take a close-up of the peice and a pic of the hood open at the break. Thanks ---

 

it kinda looks like a lot of air, it may need to be filled with a fiberglass filler, like a dura-glass or marr glass

 

Did you sit it on the corner or drop/snag/hit it?

Might need to take it off and fix it w/ some resin.

 

I was stupid and grabbed it by the corner with my left hand and grabbed the other side with my right hand to lift it up over my head onto the hinges and SNAP. Oh well...atleast it can be fixed ---

Yes it is, it has fiberglass hairs mixed in and that allows it to expand and contract at the same rate as the fiberglass hood, its sold at most auto parts store's, there are different names but it always has "-glass" in the name

 

I rember when I was younger I always wanted a 5.0, cyclon, the blazer version, and a GN. Great truck. Hope it all works out.
