Cutting hood & Welding on Hood Scoop

There is a good chance I will be owning an LT1 94-97 z28 in the not too distant future. Would it be possible for me to buy a scoop and have a body shop cut my stock hood and mold a scoop in there? Has anyone done this? I searched and found nada. I want a big scoop like the 99+ Mustang GT's have. Probubly will be non-functional, at least at first. Anyone have any links or references to scoops or pics, ect.

Thanks in advanced

Is it possible ? YES

Is it worth it ? Probably not ! Unless one of your relatives or your best friend owns a bodyshop However, if you want custom work done, and the satisfaction of having that custom setup is worth it in itself, then you could always do it yourself, or pay for it to be done, but we are talking easily over $1,000 plus paint... to have it done right.

The alternative would be to buy a fiberglass SS hood ($350) and either be satisfied with that (pics in sig) or modify the fiberglass, which would be ALOT easier than modding a stock metal hood...

You have some very nice pics. I like how you compared the 'ol z28 hood with your new SS hood side by side.

How safe is the fiberglass hood? I only found two options as far as hoods, the SS hood, and a big block stinger hood.

SS Hood:

Stinger Hood:

The SS hood cost $795!! The Stinger cost $400. Where can I get the SS for $350? Fiberglass seems to have a reputation to shatter and I want to have protection in the event of a crash...

You can get the SS hood on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1866424679

You can also contact Fiberglass Fabricators Directly and tell them you are a member of CamaroZ28.com. They will most likely give you the $350 price.

http://www.netsouth.net/fiberglass/new/

Actually they have been selling for as low as $300 so you have to just keep your eyes open

Thanks for the hookups. The ebay guy charges $80-120 for shipping and handling, so the price most likely would end up being at least $400. The Netsouth company sells them for $399 and I donno what they charge for shipping.

I am going to email Netsouth and ask them how safe Fiberglass is.
