Post Cleaning engine bay??

Whats the best way to clean the engine bay? Mine aint to bad, i usally just use a wet rag to get rid of all dust and dirt, but i want that "new look".

I saw that some of you guys use some engine specific cleaner that you spray on and hose off, to get it clean and shiny. But did you just soak the engine area not worrying about electrical connections and the optispark? or did you just use a wet rag to take the cleaner off. i really dont want to short anything out when i rinse it.

Hey man I think the stuff that your refering to that everyone uses is called CD-2 Engine Detailer. I have been using for the past few months and this stuff is great. Like you said just clean most of the dirt off with soap and water and you just spray over the entire engine. You don't have to spray everything individualy, just let it haze over everything. Then you leave the hood open for a few minutes, then start it up and after 20min. driving the stuff "sets" and it all evens out and there you go. It looks great. I have a shot of my engine bay although its not too great of picture after I used the stuff. Good luck.

Ok, this is like the 4th time I've posted this is the past week, hehe.. anyway..

I use Griot's Engine Cleaner & Engine Gloss on my car. Simple to use... spray on the cleaner (avoid electricals) wait 5 minutes, hose it off. After it dries, then spray on the gloss. Job done.

About the PCM and opti... don't spray the cleaner on them, and when hosing off, don't spray directly on them... a quick spray on them won't hurt though.

Here's my before & after pictures:

Thumbs up

OctaneZ28, nice choice man. Engine look 100% times better. I'll get around to trying that stuff in a few weeks when I get my chrome rims. Nice job man, very nice.
