california window tint questions, got ticket!
I live in Modesto, California
I have gotten 5 tickets for side window tint (5%) but had a buddy that would sign them off.
Here in California if you get a ticket for tinted windows, and you take it off you only pay court fees which is $20, and if you don't it will cost you $80.. But this is what i did the first time i got pulled over.
I went to court and told that judge that my brother took the car to Arizona and he has not been back, and that is the reason i have not had the tint off and the ticket signed off. He dismissed it and only had to pay the court fees which again it was $20. payed it and walked to my car and drove off.

You need to get yourself a california vehicle code book. Look up the section on exhaust. Make sure you are armed to fight the cop with all of the codes. A couple of questions to ask him "Are you an expert in decible levels, and did you have a decible meter present at the time of the alleged violation?" And "Did you have me rev it to see how loud it was?" etc.

and the modified exhaust section CVC 27151 states that no person shall modify the exhaust system of a car in a manner which will amplify or increase the noise emitted by that car so the car is in violation of CVC 27150 OR exceeds the noise limits established for the type of vehicle..
so noise limits is only part of the code
he can write you up for having an exhaust system that creates an excessive or unusual noise... without having a decible reader or anything... excessive or unusual noise is the key here... sorry guys the CVC is an amazing thing, there is not one thing you can do to your car that you cant get a ticket for here in Cali... thats the way it is..
