Hi, I know your panel is in it's really early stages, but I was wondering how soon I could get one of these. I work at an autobody shop too and i'm repainting my car really soon and doing some other stuff. I don't have enough time to fab up a panel but I would like to do it all together when the car comes out. Are you looking at any kind of release within a month? I'm sorry, i'm not trying to be ignorant.

Well, I don't want to make any promises that I can't keep. I think the first one will be made well within a month, probably within two weeks, but there are a few people ahead of you. I haven't taken any orders yet, but there are a few people out there that have been helpful with the project that will get the first ones. I haven't yet figured out my turnaround time with production as I do have a full time job, with any luck, one or two per day. In other words, no promises, but I'll do my best.

alright thanks for trying man, I appreciate it. I completely understand about the full time job thing, lol. I goto college too so I really understand that. I don't want to steal your design or anything, but I was wondering if you could kind of point me into the right direction of making mine. I'm going to leave the fabricator at our bodyshop alone and kind of take this on by myself as my first fabrication project. Did you physically use the light cups out of a real corvette? Or did you just start with the lights and kind of made your own mold? I'd appreciate any tips. If not thats cool. Thanks

To be honest, and this isn't just to improve my business, you should wait for mine to be released. The way I made the plug, which is what you see in the pics, is make filler panels where the taillights go, glass those to the original part, then I took the actual taillight buckets out of a wrecked C5 bumper, trimmed them down, glued them in, and muded the thing up; this is one sentence, but a tremendous amount of work. This method here would not hold up on an acutal car for more than a week, by using so many different materials that expand and contract at different rates, the part would crack as soon as it saw the sun, and you would have a real mess. My method of building is great for a plug, but not for an actual part, it really needs to be molded to produce actual fiberglass parts. There is no other way to really do it anyway. You couldn't accomplish this and finish your car in your current time frame too. But if you have any questions about fitament and such, I'd be happy to share, I'm not really doing this for the public, I'm making this for me, everyone is getting one just because I'm nice and the $$$ will fund my next custom part project for everyone.

Hey lownslocamaro, while I applaud what you are doing and your creative skills, you won't be able to use this board as a place to take orders unless you work something out with the admins. Can you please email jason@camaroz28.com and get with him about what you're making? If you guys work something out, please shoot me an email.

This has nothing to do with you or the product (I think it is very cool!) but we have to be fair to the other advertisers who pay to support this site and be able to sell stuff here.

Thanks!

Yep. Doesn't matter. It doesn't matter if money is being made or not or if you are an official business or just an enthusiast who makes a single product. The rules are strict like this to protect the advertisers. A good example of this is a guy who was making suspension related parts like strut tower braces, etc. He claimed to be making no money on them and was just doing it for the people here. That is GREAT! However, it isn't fair to the advertisers who do pay to advertise here to sell their products. So really, it doesn't matter if a profit is had or not... plus, it just gets too complicated to distinguish if one guy is making money or isn't he? So, the rules are kept fairly simple to avoid confusion... if it is desired to sell multiple items here on this site, you have to get with Chris/Jason and work out the advertising thing. When paying advertisers see non paying members selling items in bulk, it really gives them no incentive for them to support the site. Without people supporting the site, the site can't stay up and running for all us to enjoy. So, while it isn't always best at first glance (for the members here) to have rules like this, they are ultimately in place to keep the site up and running for all to enjoy

I see what your saying about the molds and stuff. We did a 300zx at our shop and custom put NSX taillights in it and shaved the whole rear. Kinda like how you made your mold for your panel. It didn't hold up too long before you could start seeing creases and that type of stuff. I'll just wait for yours though and see how things go, I guess i'm being too anxious. Hopefully, I could get one with the amount of excitement going around on your panel. I'm willing to pay what you are asking, as a lot are on this site. Thanks for your help again though, and hopefully all will go well.

I understand and realize that things like this get dangerously close to breaking the rules which I do believe are quite necessacery and quite fair. Just to be clear, I have no intention of using this website for sale of any product that I have or will have; this is the main reason why I have not released a price or taken advance orders like others here have. My only intentions were to let all the people out their know that there is hope for a panel such as this.

But things sometimes get crazy with such a heated topic.
I'm glad you like it though and thanks for the support.

Thanks Patrick for understanding! I really do hate being put in this situation because what I think you are doing is very cool! However, the rules are in place for good reason and therefore we need to be aware of them and follow them. Just giving you a heads up before there are any problems Thanks!!!

Well, I hope he can at least show us pics of the first production piece after it's been finished and installed on a car. Just so we can admire it...

However, people ARE "jumping in line" to buy one. So, it still comes down to the fact that you are stating you are making something and they will be for sale. This IS an advertisement, wether you intended for it to be or not.

I'm just saying...
