Found this on ebay...20 bucks right now. Already painted and cleared. I don't know what stock intakes go for, but this sounds pretty cheap. Shipping is another 20...by the time the auction is over I can get if for probably 50-60 shipped...

Painted Intake on Ebay

Or should I just remove clean and paint mine by myself? How hard is the removal and cleanig and paint process? What are the associated costs. Car's in the garage for the winter...so down time isn't an issue. Guess it'd be nice to have a little project too.

Lemme know what you think. Buy that one on ebay or remove and paint myself?

Thanks,

John

You could take it off and paint it in a day, but I would let the paint sit 2 days to make sure its completely dry. It wouldn't cost much at all, less then 50 for EVERYTHING needed including new gasket and RTV.

Painting it is very easy. 20 minutes to remove intake. clean it with some degreaser. Tape off everything, spray a can of $7 paint, clear it, let it dry for a few days. Buy the $20 gasket and put it back on. Plus you can do it any colour you want.
