Blue gauge needles?

Does anyone know how to paint the needles in your gauges blue, I know it can be done because I have seen it on CarDomain before, but I cant remember the guys name who did it. I think I remember him saying something about using kandy blue paint to do it but I am making sure thats right first. Plus I was also wondering if anyone knows how to get the numbers to light up blue also, if so please let me know. The reason I am asking is because I am getting cobalt gauges for the pillar and I wanted the dash gauges to somewhat match.

Thanks for the help,
Brenden

Re: Blue gauge needles?

Not sure about the gauge needles, but a lotta guys on here are into changing the gauge lights to LED's. Try doing a search on this.

Re: Blue gauge needles?

its scraping the red coating off of the needles and then using the color of your choice.

Won't that mess up the alignment of the needles?

Re: Blue gauge needles?

what you do is remove the needles, and scrape the reflective red, or yellow off the back of the needle. try to get it off w/o scratching the needle up real bad. then, choose whatever color you want, and get that color in a "sharpie" marker, just color the BACK of the needle...aka where you too the red off. use some sort of transparent paint, whether its a sharpie, or actual stain glass paint or something........about calibrating needles, thats another subject. just remember where they were i guess.........i did it to my s-10, and all my guages were correct except one. and besides, when you put new guage overlays in, dont you have to take the needles off for that too?

Dont need to take them off if you buy Macewen's, they ROCK! Just slide down around the needles. Didnt need to touch a needle when I put mine on.
