Black stripe across back???

I've seen a couple Camaros online that have the back between the bumper and hatch painted black. What is this? Is this some kind of gang sign or something?

It's what everybody calls the panel that says CAMARO on it between the taillamps and bumper. It's not a gang symbol, but that's funny LOL.

Originally, Berger SS Camaros were the only cars to have those. Then everybody started copying. I don't like the mod personally. It doesn't look good on every color car, and almost looks ridiculous if the person doesn't have stripes on the car. I saw a '93 Purple Pearl V6 Camaro with one of those locally, and it looked ridiculous, like it had been in a wreck and they didn't bother to paint the panel purple pearl.

I thought it looked like a mistake. By mistake, I mean someone didn't paint it correctly or, worse, tried to "rice" it out.

The berger panel looks amazing in black to me. Personally I like it in gloss black so it matches the rest of the blacks, but the first time I did mine I did it in a Satin Black.

I don't understand how it looks rice at all. It breaks up the back nicely. I do know what you mean about it looking unfinished, but that's why you put in the fill in letters.

That was pretty entertaining! The Berger Panel was initially created to differentiate the big block cars from lesser ones.

BTW it's pronounced Bur-jer not Bur-ger.

I never knew how to pronounce it, I've always said "Burger".

I didn't know it was Ber-jer til I met the one and only 2002 ZL1 owner I've ever met. We don't have a lot (any) Bergers down here in Texas unless they are fakes or that one ZL1. "You want fries with that panel?"
