appearance fads

what are some things your getting sick of seeing on f-bodies?

for me it's chrome fender trim and vinyl letters across the windshield even though that's not popular everywhere it seems it's quite popular with the younger people.

neon tubes that you can see and license plates that taunt you on cars that are slower then your grandmothers always gets me too.

For some reason I just can't stand billet grills on F-bodys. I use to have a 1990 454 SS that was all tricked out with billet and it just reminds me of a truck thing I guess. Just don't look right on a sports car to me. But I guess it's all about what you like.

- chrome/euro/whatever tail-lights.

- white/clear side markers or front turn signals on cars that OBVIOUSLY would have looked better left stock (i.e. yellow, teal, red, orange, green cars)... kinda like 'em on silver, pewter, black, white, etc... cars that match

- fake-HID blue-color-coated bulbs. can't stand'em

- HUGE aftermarket wings... they just look weird on 4th gens. I dig the Mecham wings, some custom 70's/NASCAR lip spoilers, and the stock T/A and Firehawk stuff... but generic wings have always bugged the hell atta me.

- wheel stem lights... DON'T DO IT

- chrome, gigantic wiper arms... leave it stock or stream-line them somehow... 3" thick wiper arms from the Pep Boys discount bin should STAY on sale.

- gotta agree on the chrome wheel well lips. I have yet to see a car that those look good on.

That's about it. Pretty open to most things, but some gimic/cheezy items just get under my skin some times.

I saw some custom jobs in person I really liked, but they were all LS1-style camaros. The 1 or 2 LT1-era camaro's I've seen weren't so hot IMO. The best one I saw was on a 35th Anniversary Z28... the grill was polished billet aluminum, and the front edges were scuffed/sanded (sorta satin/brushed look) to continue the stripes through the grill. subtle but very effective. sweet looking car.

Pretty much everything said here except for the billet grille thing I used to hate em but I like em again

Oh and Vinyl flames on cars flames just don't look right unless they are painted

red and yellow...nuff said

stick on dash overlays

shift ***** from auto zone or pep boys

Exhaust on V6's
(I would never put an exhaust on a V6. Maybe tips but no exhaust)

Paying to get your entire car painted from stock red to some other red that looks exactly the same and expect everyone to notice *I don't mean only red BTW*

I have so many more but I also have a life I need to get back to

First off, who in 2004 is still puttting chrome fender trim on their f-bodies? lol!!

I also agree with you guys on these:

neons you can see (tacky)

exhaust on V6's (I own one and would'nt do it, cant make a V6 sound like a V8)

Graphic decals (some I've seen are not right at all)

Winshield lettering "camaro" (do you really have to advertise on the front windshield?)

Flamed Autozone seat covers (People take all that time painting their interiors, just to match them to some cheap "F&F" seat covers)

Altezzas!!!!!!!!!!!! (never could get used to them)

#1 with a bullet.........drumroll.................. SPINNING HUBCAPS!!!!! (please not on an F-body and really anything else lol!!)

I've heard some bad V8s and some nice V6s. I like my V6 better than the V8 I'm about to pick up, but I'll be sure to swap the exhaust.
