Anyone Have Thick Spoke C5 Wheels on their Firebird?
like it says, I bought some from a 99 Vette for my Firebird, along with some used 285/35/ZR18 Michelin Pilots, and some 245/40/zr17 for the fronts....Will they fit ok, I am at the understanding I may have to grind some on the rear hubs, but other than that, anyone have any pics? Thanks
Well, just as when you put any LS1 wheel on a rear of an LT1 car, you'll probably need to dremel out the center of the wheel a TINY, TINY bit. It really doesn't take much at all. The very center piece is a little smaller on the LS1 rear hubs for some reason (if you need better directions on how to do it let me know, its really not that hard though). Other than that you should fit fine. I had 18's all the way around, although I had 275/35/18's. One thing, BE CAREFUL OF POTHOLES!!!!! They came from the factory on Vettes with 40 series tires on the 18's... and with the 35's you can very easily bend rims. There is less sidewall flex to absorb the impact of a hard slam from a pothole, etc. I bent the hell out of one rim and bent another slightly. And honestly, I don't EVER remember hitting any potholes that hard at all. It will look GREAT. I got complements all the time, something different than just SS rims (I had them first) without being ricey at all... they are GM rims!! Check out pics on my site, link in sig.
