Tire size-does it require mods to body?
Tire size-does it require mods to body?
Hi:
I'm new to this BB and a new owner of my first Camaro. It's a 95' Z28. I'm thinking of adding a larger set of wheels but I'm concerned as to whether it will require modifications to the front or rear fenders. The tires/wheels I am looking at buying are:
Chrome replica Z06 style rims, center caps and tires. They are 17"x9.5" (+56mm offset with 7.4" backspacing). The lug pattern is 5x120.65mm.
The tires are Kumho 712 ECSTA Supra tires, 275/40 ZR-17, treadwear is 280, Temp is "A" rated and traction a very high "AA" rating. The tires are mounted and balanced.
Can I just slap these onto the car without any further mods?
thanks,
Bud

Welcome to the board and the addiction.
Your 275/40/17 on the Z06 rims will fit fine with absolutely no problems whatsoever. The Overall diameter of the stock tire (245/50/16) and the new tire are identical, which is a good thing. Since you are increasing section width by 30 mm, you will gain lateral g's and increase traction.
Bolt on and go.
And remember.....we wanna see pics

One more thing to remember.... Your Kumho's are directional tires so they can only roll one direction for normal use. Make sure you look for this when you put them on. There should be some type of arrow on the sidewall that lets you know which way they are supposed to roll.

Not sure how to post a photo on the BB, but I'd be happy to forward one onto someone that could.
