Re: Another place for vinyls?

I've ordered numerous things from Brent and never had a problem with anything sticking... He helped me out when one of my Z28 overlays got scraped from a rock hitting it.. Give him a little time to respond... He'll make good on it.

Re: Another place for vinyls?

Hey aliensRreal, your dad got those from me

Thanks very much for the kind words guys and thanks too, Jason, for moving it here where I'd see it and can do something about it!!!

At any rate, aliensRreal, I'll take care of you no matter if it is your dad's fault or mine. While problems are not common with vinyl, there are times where it can be a bit "finiky". I haven't had a chance to get on my email yet today and am at work now so not sure if you emailed me or not but I'll reply here. The vinyl that I use is the best most expensive stuff out there. That isn't all that common in this vinyl sticker world because vinyl guys can buy vinyl that is 1/3 the cost of mine and will look good for a while but I like buying the best stuff so I can be assured that the guys who get stuff from me will have the best stuff for the longest time!

I think I know what happened to your dad based on what you have said. It is not likely that the vinyl got too hot. That vinyl can be used in the engine compartment, on brake calipers, and several other places where it gets VERY hot and will still look good for many years. So, I don't think the sun by itself caused any problems. HOWEVER, what I think happened is that when your dad peeled up the vinyl for the rear inserts, a very thin layer of the backing paper came up with it. The vinyl should have looked the same on the backside as it does on the viewable side. If there was any white at all on the backside, that's no good and some paper is coming up as well. Sometimes if the vinyl goes through a number of atmospheric changes (like sitting on the porche where it gets dewy then the sun comes out then it gets moist then dries out, etc) it can cause a very thin layer of the paper backing to actually stick to the decal when you peel it up. If you catch this you can often times just peel it from another corner and all will be well. But, if you don't notice it (or the backing paper got really messed with like maybe what happened with it on the porch for a while) and peel the decal up entirely there is no way to get this very thin "fuzz layer" of paper off the decal and it can actually happen to each letter! Right before I sent that decal to your dad I peeled all the vinyl away from around the cutout letters without problems (all my stuff is stored in a controlled environment.... my air conditioned house! ) so something likely happened either in transit or at your house which caused the problem with the decal. What you described about them being on the porch likely caused the problems but I have also seen it to where the people got it and put the vinyl in their house right away and still had problems. This could be caused by really bad environmental conditions in the mail truck with your envelope with the decals sitting on the top of the stack and mail truck getting very humid. There are other times where all this can happen and the decal will still be just fine (because only the decal came up and not any of the paper backing with it). Like I said... it can be finiky when it wants but thank goodness it is not most all the time.

At any rate, I have seen this before and it happens rarely enough that I don't care who is at fault, blah, blah, blah... I will just send out a replacment! The way I look at it is... Let's say it is your fault and you KNOW it is your fault because they stayed on the porch, got rained on, sun came out, dewing in the morning, whatever. You are out your entire purchase because of this. However, for me, the vinyl isn't that expensive and I send them with a $0.39 stamp so for me to just replace them for you, it won't cost me that much and just takes a little bit of my time BUT that customer will usually tell his buds about me because I helped him out even though I didn't have to. So, one of his buds will order because I replaced his decal for free and then that'll recoup the cost/expense I had to send out the replacement and everyone is happy!!!

So, long story short, very sorry your father had troubles with the decal but all that needs to be done is to send me an email with his name (or address... just some way for me to be able to pull his order up) and I will be more than happy to send him a replacement at no charge

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Re: Another place for vinyls?

I used 4th circle a few months ago. I thought Brent had stopped doing decals?

FWIW 4th circle did me right as well. I wont go into details and hijack the thread...but us F-buds are lucky to have Brent and 4th Circle.....much like PCMforless and Madz28 for mail order tunes. WIN/WIN
