Couple of LS1 console questions....
Couple of LS1 console questions....
For those who have installed the 97+ console into an earlier LT1 I have two questions that I'd appreciate help with...
First, I have the Mustang console/tray that many have put in to fill the gap, but I'd like to know how everyone mounted theirs. It'll have to be held in place well as I'll probably fill it with gauges.
And secondly, has anyone ever tried taking the LT1 convertible switch and installed it with the newer bezel? I'd like to reuse my switch instead of paying $40 for the newer one, but I'm struggling to figure out a mounting option.
Thanks in advance...

Re: Couple of LS1 console questions....
for the switch I'd just get an LS1 switch and plate and then its a direct swap. Can't help you with the other, but I've done the swap. Its easy and worth it!

Well, I have the LS1 plate. I just want to use my old convertible switch with it.
Honda Hunter - I bought the tray from Mustang Parts Specialty (who are now mps auto salvage) for $25.00. Just call them and ask for the console tray from a 94-97 Mustang. As for a pic go here: http://www.dreamer1q.michiganspeed.c...3/DSC01941.JPG
Hope that helps. Now of someone could just help me...lol

Re: Couple of LS1 console questions....
Since this was originally my idea, I guess I can help
The Mustang part is mounted to the lower radio bezel with bolts. A drill and a few lock washers and bolts and its done and SOLID. I even got some old junk trim from a junkyard and trimmed it to fit the sides of the insert so it blended in better.
As for the switch, I originally kept my LT1 style, I just epoxied the switched into the new bezel. A few years later I actually rewired a LS1 switch to work, and it is alot easier to pull out then something that is expoxied
Hope that helps. Amazes me people are actually coping this, never thought it was that big a deal, guess I was wrong.

Re: Couple of LS1 console questions....
I've got an extra LS1 switch if you want it..
I had it sprayed solid black (to get rid of the white part that says TOP)... I bought two from the dealer.
I have one for the bottle opener and one for the cutout... no more cutout though now that I have a 4" Mufflex.
$20 shipped and she's yours
Drop me an e-mail at madelisle@yahoo.com if you want it.
