Just a question but why? Your car already has a tach.

because the factory tachs aren't precise, they're usually about 200-400 RPMs off the mark, and it's tough to calibrate one past 6500 if he has a cam installed.

Lots of people think they look cool. I don't, they're ugly and tacky, but they ARE helpful.

correct... my tach is off by 400 rpms and i want to shift exactly where the power band is not when it falls the stock tach is wrong. i would just like to see where shift lights are but tachs are cool also cause most people use them with the shift lights.

Also can someone point me in the right direction of the shift light that plugs into & works with the msd boxes? Thanks

Re: Aftermarket tach or shift light

well, i have only the shift light, a harlen at that (amazing little number), and mine is installed in the air vent, to the right of the driver (above the radio)...

thats all you need, if you ask me, as it tells you when you're at a set rpm... and is accurate, thus no need for big ugly tachs....

for the record, i LOVE my harlen shift light.. i know i dont need it, as i never really push my v6 (there's nothing to push)... but its nice to have

i have a raptor shift light it is basically the same as the harlan but better built in my opinion plus u can shoose the color of the leds and the color of the alluminum housing, it is an easy install 3 wire hook up: power, ground and tach output

yeah, a couple of mustang guys the funniest was the guy that i watched pound his head on his steering wheel cause he couldn't keep up. and at the track someone came up to me and asked how i got a v6 to run low 13's. it works but the ones with common sense can tell. dual pipes + extremely loud = Z28 not a v6
