Re: 98+ headlights into lt1 thread

Simply put, you can't just install LS1 headlights into a 93-97 Camaro. There WILL be fabrication done both to the car and to the headlights. It can be done, and I am sure someone will eventually tackle this and have a "how I did it" thread.

The problem is that it will all have to be "duplicated" by others, and when you are custom cutting your own car, and headlights, it becomes pretty hard to make it just as someone elses.

Years ago I started a thread about creating a new custom headlight for the 93-97 Camaros and who would be interested. After 10,000 hits, it was obvious there is a want for these. Long story short, I am nearing a point (this fall) where I will be creating custom headlghts for the 93-97 Camaro's. No fab work will be required, and the headlights will be projector style, with an HID option.

I have already been flooded by others on this, and I just don't have any more info on it yet, as I WON'T be starting on it until this fall. I will keep people informed, and when the project is finished, I will become a sponser and start a thread.

EDIT: Just checked, and the thread actually has over 69,000 hits

Re: 98+ headlights into lt1 thread

A few people have, but I have yet to see any pictures of what they look like with the hood open. Like I said before, its just as important to me to have them look good not only with the hood closed, but the hood open too. There is no point in having cool headlights if they look like a hack-job when the hood is open.

Call- if you want some pointers let me know...I have yet to see anyone else post a 93-97 with projectors that look close to being stock. It will be surprisingly easy to make a headlight kit for these cars- I'm just concerned with them already getting close to the 20 yr old mark, I wonder what the demand will be, and how many people will be willing to shell out the money for them.

I'm not doing it to make a profit. I will be making high quality headlights, from high quality parts with an emphasis on providing these to the 93-97 Camaro community, not to make large profits. If they sell in large or small quantities, I will know I have at least provided 93-97 Camaro owners with something good that enhances the light quality and appearance all while not having to hack up thier cars.

My guess is with all the hits in my thread, and over 10,000 hits in this thread is that they will sell just fine. With the quality parts I will be using, they won't be cheap, so I will keep my profit margin down to try and help with the price.

Re: 98+ headlights into lt1 thread

He is not the first to attempt this. There was a company that went even as far as buying an old LT1 Camaro, but then after getting into financial trouble had to bail. There was another company on LS1tech that made some great firebird projectors, and said they would definately make 93-97 Camaro headlights, but again, a lot of time passed and nothing happened.

I already am confident that the headlights will get made by someone. Honestly it wouldn't even bother me if someone else beat me to the punch, as I just want these to be available to the 93-97 Camaro owners, more than I am wanting to profit.

I will be starting on my project in the fall, unless someone actually does beat me to it and makes a good kit before me.

Focustech was the basket we put all of our eggs in. Looking back, I wasn't interested in the design anyway even though I helped mock it up. We just need some decent rectangles that look stock but aren't. Plug and play.

What I will be going for is a simple plug and play rectangular lights (same sized as the factory lights), and incorporate the projector within the headlights.

Sorry for taking away from this thread.

Re: 98+ headlights into lt1 thread

Its going to be tough since even the smallest projectors are close to 5" long from tip to tail. After my conversion I have some other thoughts on how to possibly do it, but they would still stick out a little from the factory headlights.

^ You are correct. Only a small projector will fit.

To my knowledge, nobody on this site has completed an LS1 headlight to LT1 car..

I am doing it right now as we speak. I have spend the last four months designing custom CCFL halo LED projector HID headlights and have finally finished the fabrication. I am now in the process of mounting them to the car.

Re: 98+ headlights into lt1 thread

i think it would look coolest if the 98-02 lights would still be in where the stock 93-97 headlights are just instead of 2 rectangles have 1 bubble headlight.
