98+ Camaro Wiper Arms on a 93-97 Camaro?

I want to change to a non-reverse hook wiper blade like the newer style on 98+. will the arms be the only thing i would need to change? how hard are they to remove? I have a 97 camaro . thanks

I'm guessing you want those Icon wipers too, huh?

not really my motivation for wanting to do this but yeah i want to install low profile wipers. mainly to increase my visibility in the front and getting rid of the aero wiper arm plastic which blocks some visiblity.

Well that makes sense. I just want the Icon wiper blades since they're so much nicer than the regular kind, but I can't use them with my 93-97 wiper arms. I'm interested in knowing the answer to this question as well.

I've always read that the 98-02 wiper arms are a direct replacement.

I originally wanted the opposite... I wanted the aero-wipers and bought a set on eBay. They were NOT a direct replacement.

I took the hood off because the factory wipers were on so tight, I had to use a special battery terminal puller to pull up on the arm while pushing down on the center nut... anyway... NOT a direct replacement. Driver's side arm is shaped differently where it meets up with the car. Don't know about the passenger side arm because I quit after the driver one didn't fit. The arm would hit the plastic cowl and not allow it to fit at all.

You may be able to go the other way but make sure. You may have to change the cowl also and / or something else.

OMFG you just transplanted me back to a moment in my life I never wanted to revisit! Pulling those wiper arms was such a difficult task! I wanted to fix mine but it just wouldn't budge. I ended up giving up and then later on sold the car, it was on my Firebird.

Ha! At least you didn't crack your windshield trying to get them off....

Mine come off pretty easily nowadays after 2 windshield replacements and me taking them off to get to the wiper fluid line under the cowl!

Hey RRR if you decide to get rid of the little plastic spoiler on your wipers, I will gladly take them off your hands. I lost one a while back down the road that shattered. I do a lot of highway driving and they help a lot with keeping the wipers on the windshield going 75mph.

Let me know,
Tim

soo...i no this is a old thread but i just tryed upgrading wiper arms to the newer style. What i noticed was the newer arms had a stronger spring rate, and kept making the arm on the wiper motor pop off. dont know if anyone else had this problem but im gonna put the old ones back on today to see if this is the reason the arm keeps popping off.

Damn, I'm glad I'm not the only one who did that.

I don't have a pic, but they are different. I went and pulled the aero pieces off a 93-97 camaro and tried to fit them on my 98 and they do not fit. The 98 and new arms are a little bit wider across. I may go back and take the whole damn arm next time. The aero pieces help push the wiper on the windshield to clear it.
