Yep, it's all down to personal taste. Kind of like the Altezza's. I personally don't like them, but there must be alot of people for a manufacturer to make them.

Hey Scott,

Have you checked with www.fpartssalvage.com ?

They get a lot of stuff on a regular basis. Shoot them an email, I'm sure they probably have a set lying around somewhere!

Cool has the write up ever been done?

I liek the look of 93-96 lights better... I always hated the amber color on cars.

Are their mounting issues? Or just wireing issures... I was thinking of picking up a set of used 93-96s and seeing how I coudl get them to work.(no don't wanna trade, not in the mood ot have no tailights while shipping is happening and I doubt you do to, and if I do, I have had like 5 offers for a trade.)

Like said the red jsut flows better with the lines of the car...

I jsut got clears for the front, I kinda wish I coudl get them to look red, like factory red... Maybe I will try some Red tint on them

I have a conversion write-up that I can send you. I don't have it hosted right now. Dropme an e-mail. It's pretty easy. Th main issues are wiring if you want the brake and turn signal to work the same as the early cars, or you can leave them seperate, then it's just making the grooves in the bulb holes a little bigger.
Pretty easy.

Found this helpful thread and have a question to clarify:

I got my tails yesterday and mounted them right away. Modified the wiring that the rear is lit up like it was on the pre96 models.
Now just to clarify: To make acting the turn- and brakelights the right way can I just connect a wire between the turnsignalwire and the brakelightwire in front of the bulbconnectors?

I like the 93-96 taillights better also the 97-02 actually look outdated because there aren't really any cars on the road with amber on the taillights.

Re: '97+ to '93 - '96 taillight conversion done.

looks like i've trying to revive a dead thread, but has anyone considered just replacing the entire 97-02 taillight wiring harness with a 93-96 version? is it even possible?

Back from the dead, but if this helps anyone:
I got me an old style harness but I didn't like the old style bulbs so I soldered the newer wedge-style connectors in there.
Also it seems that the MY97 had a harness something in between: New taillamps but oldstyle bulbs.
But to answer the question: the old style harness is only a possible step to achieve the final result. the mod on the brakeswitch under the steering column has to be done none the less
