The Nitto website used to show "coming soon" on an 18" drag radial, but it was in a strange size like 285/50-18.... which would make it way too large in diameter to fit in the 4th Gen wheel openings without body work - a 28" QTP is about as large as you can go. A 29" tire would also totally kill performance.... effectively reducing your overall gear ratio with the same effect as changing your rear 3.23's to 2.85's (if they existed). And the huge polar moment of inertia would absorb tons of HP, just to bring the wheel/tire up to speed.

About the only option on a "sticky" 18" tire would be to go to the Hoosier Sports Car Radial D.O.T. tire.... available in numerous compatible 18" sizes. These are not good street tires, with no wet traction at all.

You really don't want a low sidewall tire for drag use.....

...I heard about those Hoosier's, do they have a website on them. I'd like to see a pic up close.

Thanks

An 18" tire defeats the purpose of traction in drag racing..use a different size wheel.

...I won't be using it for drag racing, I've got 15's for that. I want it for street use, high stall TC isn't gonna be nice to normal street tires, and I'm not gonna get rid of my vette wheels.

Hoosier website:

HOOSIER ROAD RACE TIRES

Click on "specs", and scroll down to "Sports Car DOT - Radial", then click on the "M" in the tire data line to see the tread pattern.

The Nitto site lists the size as 305/45-18. The outside diameter of that tire is 28.78"..... trust me... that will not fit in a stock 4th Gen fender opening.... and it will seriously suck up power, not to mention be just like reducing your rear axle ratio by 11%.

NITTO 555R DRAG TIRE SIZES

This is a 28" tire in a TA/Formula wheel opening, and the axle has been moved back slightly to keep the tire from hitting the front/metal portion of the wheel opening at near-130mph trap speeds. Anyone I know running 28" tires has ended up cutting the edge of the rubber bumper cover off.

28" QTP
