What compressioin to shoot for? Also Piston/Ring question
Ive got my stroker tore down for some Splayed caps and some more minor stuff. I bought the motor already built and the guy went with a dished SRP Piston. We done the match and cc ing everything we came up with around 10.8:1 compression ratio. What is the ideal to run? Must be on pump gas and planning on a healthy shot on top of it. I talked to a guy that is in the same boat and he is shooting for about 12.5:1.
Also who makes the best affordable piston for spray? im thinking Ross or even Wisco. Also planning on the Sealed Power Hellfire ring( I think thats who makes them) Thanks fellas I appreciate all your help

You need to get the dynamic compression ratio as close as possible to the limit for pump gas. Just calculating the static compression ratio will not tell you much. If your solid roller is a big cam, you probably are starting with too low an SCR, but without having the cam specs and making the full calculation, you will never know.
And to make sure we understand.... are you planning to run the "healthy shot" on pump gas as well?

Plannig on a 300 or 350 shot, May up ut more later when I see what the car will do. As far as the rest of the bottom end I will be running eagle H beams, eagle 4340 crank, and Oliver 4 bolt splayed caps. Also going to Pour the bottom of the block.

The race fuel in the cell is just good insurance.
As far as Probe pistons, depends on what ya buy. Their prices are around $500 for a nice set.

If you like I can get ya prices as I am a warehouse distributor for Probe Industries and it will be a good price. I would go with Total Seal on the rings. Which I can also get ya.
That 12-1 is cam dependent. Everybody is just guessing at the static compression with no cam spects to go on.
People just shoot out numbers without knowing S*it about your set up.
Must be one of "It's his engine" things.

Call some of the cam makers and get a recommendation from them on cam then get an online and find a DCR calaculator and do the math.
