well the saga continues....

I put the opti on the car one more time with all my clay in place etc and started her up. With the bolts in but not tighten the noise was gone, but the opti was kinda wobeling around. Once i tighten the bolts a bit the noise came back.

I took the opti off and i have planny of clearance everywhere. Nothing is pushing on the opti. Obviously the noise we are hearing is the bearing on the opti (the shaft on the opti has some slack in it now from side to side). What to do now?

I can exchange this opti for a new one, but i wil be afraid to put it on since i still dont know what messed up 2 previous optis. Any ideas?

How about you snap us a pic of the front side of the gear? where the opti sits. Some are beveled.

Snap us a pic and post it.

have you tried the washers ?

I started to reply that in the side pic of the opti the shaft looked cocked.....thought it might just be the shadow making it look that way. May just be a defective opti....I would exchange for a new one. If it does the same thing you know the cam or dowel pin has a problem. ( maybe the pin whole in the cam is not bored straight)

here is a pic of the clay impression http://bellsouthpwp.net/x/x/xxsaint69x/clay3.JPG

i just noticed that something is off...i think that might be the damn problem. When the opti is loose it has enough slack to move around, when tighten, there is no slack so the bearing gets torn up pretty quick
