Vertical vs. horizontal bar solid lifters?
I'm building a 386 cubic inch SBC (Destroked 400). The cam is a custom Lunati solid roller with 268-276 duration @ .050" /.648" lift and 108* LSA.
My question is about lifters. Lunati and Crane both offer horizontal bar lifters. The idea makes sense...They pop up off the cam when the pushrods are loosened, so you can swap cams without pulling the intake. Are there any disadvantages to this lifter design? I'm just a little concerned about why they're cheaper than vertical bar lifters.

Popup lifters are just designed to do that. I don't think there's a good or bad side to a horizontal or vertical lifter however the best lifters are Crower server duty and Crane Pro series. Both use vertical bars.
