too much valve spring?

what would happen if i ran springs with more than the needed pressure for a certian cam? cam motions recommended cam for my car needs about 130-140 lbs on seat and 340-360 open, i was looking at the comp beehive springs which are rated at 155/377 ...will this cause any problems?

No it's not going to cause any big problems... you don't need to use that beehive the standard 26918 will work fine for what you are doing.

Re: too much valve spring?

those you listed are 130/318, not quite enough for what cam motion says

I really wish I woulda kept that cam for the wall of shame.Triple Iskys [from a monster roller]on a tiny hydraulic.what a party! still, when youre 15 theres one thing on your mind...........and it aint spring rates.

spring pressures arent the whole story when it comes to valve control wieght(m) plays every bit as large of a role as spring pressure(f) and ramp agressiveness(a).

f = ma

the beehives are basicly a crap load lighter than a plain dual spring and much more resistance to harmonics and loss of control.

what your saying makes sense, but it still does not answer my question...maybe cam motion will have a better answer cause they know the cam profile...thanks for your input guys

Re: too much valve spring?

Wouldn't excessive spring pressure have an effect on the bleed down rate
of the lifters?

Would this translate into a loss of performance?

What are ya considering excessive? 200 seat and 400 nose would be exsessive for a hyd roller.

Re: too much valve spring?

All depends on the lifter too... the ole Comp R's can take whatever you want to throw at them... to bad they had to get a new supplier.
