Thrust bearing

I am in the process of figuring out why this is shot already...I know the torque converter did not balloon and it is an A4 Z28. The motor has just nearly 10k since the stroker rebuild. Now my good friend and engine builder brought up that I could have put the flex plate on backwards putting fowards stress on the crank and causing the bearing to wipe out... I didn't know the plate went one way... Im gonna look into this once I pull the motor. I mean Im open to any reason(s) why this happened so it doesn't happen again in 10k

how much end play did the crank have. If you put it in tight it would wipe it out.

I talked to the engine builder today and he said it had 0.010" endplay when he was finished with it ... that's pretty much right on ... anything else that could have caused this? I can see the crank movin back and forth when i move it ... we got bout 1/8" endplay now
