Question Stock valve covers leaking on AFR 210's, help ASAP!

I just installed AFR 210 heads on my 396 stroker. When I put oil in it is leaking around the cover onto the ground. It kind of looks like the valve cover is to short, causing the corners from fitting down over the heads. Do I have to get aftermarket covers or something?

Stock valve covers will work with AFR heads.

The supports in the valve covers are probably hitting the rocker arms.

You will need to trim out the part of the support that is hitting.

I have 210s on my car with Trans Dap aluminum valve covers with no problem. I use a double thick Victor Reinz gasket. Good luck.

>I have AFR #1031 LT4 heads (195cc) and when I installed them with the stock LT1 valve covers they also leaked , so I installed some washers under the valve cover bolts , and that cinched them down , and now they do not leak ... later I will retap the holes .
Later ...

AFR taps all the holes shallow, front & back of the head, intake, and valve cover. I have the LT4 195 cc heads & LT4 valve covers (plastics) which use studs. I had to shorten them. I'm willing to bet your screws are bottoming out and not pulling the valve covers down. Also, I tried tapping deeper with an end tap, but there wasn't but one more thread and that wasn't enough. You should ensure that your intake bolts aren't bottoming out like mine did. I had it half glued on before I figured that out. I called AFR to tell them that they really should include a note with the heads warning us that all the holes are shallow, but I don't know if the guy cared or not.
