Solid Roller Lifter Opinions
Solid Roller Lifter Opinions
Hey guys, I need a few opinions before I pull the trigger on buying a set of lifters for my BBC. A lot of people make lifters and I wanted to hear from those who have run solid rollers what would be the best option. Popular companies out there (Comp, Isky, Lunati, Crane, Jesel) offer pressurized oiling, but wanted to hear from those who actually run them what they have had success with.
Thanks,
Anthony

I use Crowers, but I wouldn't put any of them on a street car.

It's not going to be a street car per se. The car will be driven on the street to go show it off or something but not driven in traffic or even on the weekends, just like once a month. The car will 98% of the time be a drag car mainly running the 1/8 up in Denton and I might take it out to Ennis if I can snag my brothers truck/trailer.
Is the only concern with 'street' solid rollers the low RPM oiling? If so what is considered low?

I have Crane 11522's, and so far they have been great, no issues. I would like to put a set of Isky's or Crowers in with the HIPPO set up. I don't think my Cranes have that. If you had the extra $$$ there is a company called Schubeck that makes awesome lifters.

Crower then. Call them - there are three different types (plus a number of variations) last I looked. They can advise you which to get AFAIK they are still made in the US. I have a set of standard duty with almost no time on them if you are interested. I ended up going with the "Ford" diameter because my lifter bores needed to be honed.

I think idling alot and driving in traffic is what kills them, but I know some people that drive them all the time and never had an issue.
Look into getting good oil.
I'm getting the Brad penn oil from now on in my race car from the fuel place locally and wix filters
And I got one of those filter cutters so I can cut it open every time to check it out

Isky, Crower, and Crane are all good lifters. We have quite a few dual purpose motors out there with Crane solid rollers and their link-bar lifters. We use the Isky and Crowers on the road race motors because they have good options for off-sets and come ready for rev-kits.
I got the Comp Endurex with 3000 HARD miles, street/strip....are doing well. BUT I have my car idleing in gear at 1150rpms and holds 40 psi of oil pressure hot in traffic. I use Shell Rotella 15-40 oil.

I have 40 at idle too, I am using 5-30 now. just for refrence
I've got about 5,500 miles on mine and use Valvoline VR1 20w50, I give it hell on the street on nice days when I have time to take it out and have driven it multiple times 2+ hours on road trips or trips to the track. Still goin strong. Idle @ 180* is about 25~30psi. 2krpm+ is 60psi+.
