Shaft mounted rockers
Planning out a solid roller cam swap and was wondering if they are worth the money for my application....Gonna be daily driven but not revved too high, maybe high 6 thousands. I was also suggested to use some beefy regular rockers with a girdle. What does the stability do anyways, lengthen time between re-adjustment?
I bought Jesel Sportsman shaftmount rockers for $690 + their tools for another $100+. Nothing but problems, i ended up not being able to use them because they hit the retainers.
I did like them in general, but with the problems i had i couldnt recomend them to anyone. Maybe their $1200 model fits better
But if i were to try it again i would buy the T&D ones for $900.
I personaly am not fan of girdles because i think they are sub par to shaft mounts and just a PITA if not more than shaftmounts. But if you want to know more about girdles id talk with Jason Short as he has used them for a while.

I'll have to say I think my T&D's are great, lash stay right on. But for a motor thats going to see only 6k I can see the need for it, I'm not really sure even the need for a soild roller, as I tuned my hyd roller to 7600 rpm.
I agree to that T&D's are the way to go..as steve mentioned adjustment stays in check and for people with high spring pressure during the winter months its a breeze to take off the shaft assembly ,then replace them once race season rolls around again and basically have same adjustment as when removed...Biggest reason I went with T&D's is that its a much more superior design than jesel..Since T&D's have a oiling system (some with pissers for the springs
) and jesels rely totally on oil splash..another note is that if you ever remove a jesel rocker off the shaft ,you better have you hand under it to catch the needle bearings..lol There again a modest street car with not alot of rev just go with some S/S pro-magnums (7/16 stud and girdle if you decide on solid) If you decide on T&D's be prepared it takes right much preparation to get them mounted correctly and depending on which pushrod you go with.It may also require some head and valve cover clearancing..not to mention they are not cheap.

Thanks guys for the response... it is a street motor that will be driven daily as my main car. Dont plan on going above 6750 rpm for longevity reasons but I like the benefits of a solid roller over the hydraulic... who makes the S/S pro magnum rockers and why are girdles a hassle? Thanks again.
comp makes the pro magnums or s/s pro mag's ..stud girdles are a hassle if you have center bolt valve covers,option for that is the moroso center bolt design girdles and fabricated center bolt valve covers...another option is center to perimeter valve cover adapters only problem you can run into with those is when you run a large diameter spring..
LOL.....well you are gonna laugh at me but this guy patented a way of doing valvetrain geometry that is totally different than everyone elses and says people have been doing it wrong for over 20 years

However, what I find sad/amusing in instances like these, is that the 'ticket bureau' is happy to sell you a ticket to that cheap seat, but have plenty of excuses, oh forgive me, reasons come time when you complain of the poor view. Should cheap seat tickets be made available? Probably better to know there may be vision problems going in.Believe it or not, but I've previously questioned a person's intent to purchase the 'cheap' set. The guy seemed 'put out' that I would even question his judgement regarding the quality of the product. Whatever.
