SB2 LT1 pics

Progress on the SB2 LT1 is coming along. Here are some new pics. The engine is a mock up block but all the other components are going on my motor. The headers need to be coated yet and I'm taking the heads back to my engine builder for final assembly tomorrow. The engine should be on the dyno within two weeks. The SFI McLeod bellhousing fits pretty good. In fact everything fits pretty good, even in the car. I had to relocate a section of the passenger side floor to clear the header but other than that, I'm happy.

Re: SB2 LT1 pics

That's funny. I actually have a spare rear bumper cover along with some quarter panels. I hope I don't need them (especially the quarters). The car should be fast but I'm always skeptical. I don't think it'll be a bumper dragger, after all it's still an M6. Look at how Taner's car launches. Flat and like a rocket. He's got that car dialed in good as his 60' shows. I don't believe I'll get my suspension setup as good as him so I think it'll stay down.

As far has the headers go, Lemons is first class. Dan took real good care of me and the product is very nice. Obviously my deal was specialized as there aren't too many SB2 / 4th gens running around but even so the headers fit the chassis very well with minimal modification. Not bad for a 3000 mile mail order without the chassis to build from. I still had to do some cutting and grinding but bear in mind they have 4" collectors. I highly recommend lemons.

As long as I'm at it I'll tell you who else is doing a killer job for me. Second Street Speed in Perkasie, Pa is building the motor and they rock. Excellent knowledge, great customer service, timely. I can't say enough about my experience with them so far. They have also built some wicked motors. Georger Baxter's comes to mind. If you need a motor done, they will make it right. It's not cheap but they do it the right way and you get value for your dollars spent.

Dave, I quoted the I for you. Note for others, the "I" is code for "I called my friend Steve to relocate and weld in a patch to the floor so my obnoxiously oversized custom headers will not hit the floor" And yes, I bust Dave's chops just as much in person.

Dave, the mock up pix look great. It certainly gives motivation to get the car together and running. I think you've overcome most of the major obstacles. Mostly everything should be zip zop from here on.

Later,

Steve.

O.K., so I took liberty with the use of "I". There's no one else I'd rather attack my car with a sawzall and a welder than you
