Not to be a d!ck or anyhing... but other then the fact it makes crazy horsepower, huge shot of nitrous and is absolutely insane... what's so special about this motor? SB2? Clue me in please... why does this motor make so much more power then other ones other then the fact it revs out like crazy with a ginourmous sized cam.

Re: The SB2 LT1 lives

Chris, it's all in the heads. I believe the intake valve angles are 11 degree with a 4 degree cant but I'm not positive on the numbers. It's airflow that makes power and these have it. 380 cfm from a small block head is pretty darn good in anyones book. That's what's making the power. In fact our set is down on flow numbers compared to a maxed out set which I have seen in the 440 range. That's why Nextel Cup motors can make 800+ from 358ci. Usually motors with massive heads tend to be peaky with big sacrifices in low end torque. Not so with these. It's making over 400lbft at 3000rpm. You know all those kick but LSx based motors that are making big power, well take a good look at LS1, LS2, LS6 and LS7 heads and you will notice major similarities to those and the SB2's.

BTW, thanks everyone for the kind words.

Dave, I may have ask you this before. If I did, I dont remember the answer. Why are you useing an intake from a restrictor plate engine? I am still tuning on my sb2.2. I have went 9.84 @ 3420lbs with a density Alt. of 5000'. I think my converter is way to loose.

A restrictor plate is just a plate that acts like a carb spacer, only a restictor plate limits top speed. Take off the restrictor plate and its the same.

Re: The SB2 LT1 lives

You are correct on the plates themselves but the intakes are also different for the restrictor engines on different setups. The restrictor intake is a good 1-2" shorter. I have a 2 1/2" cowl hood which I have to keep for street legality reasons. The bigger intake would not fit.

I love it! I have a feeling that you are going to need a lot of touch up paint for that rear bumper.
